Ja Rule again addresses Billboard’s top 50 GOAT rappers snub.
Last year, Billboard unveiled a list of 50 top rappers of all time to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop. Ja Rule was among the emcees who did not make the list, and the rapper was not happy with it. Ja made an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show, where he again addresses the snub by Billboard and Vibe.
“I’m not a hater. Congrats to everyone on the list,” he said. “You know, these lists, they’re meaningless because music is subjective. You like who you want to like, you know everybody has their favorite artist and their favorite whoever.”
“But my thing was… this is a list comprised by Billboard. They do numbers and statistics, if I’m not mistaken. Ok so, that list is impossible to make without Ja Rule being on it. Statistically impossible,” Ja continued. “We talking about 17, 20 top ten entries. There are artists that don’t have number one records, don’t have number one albums. I’m not knocking anybody on the list because, like I said, music is subjective. And when it comes to some of the older artists, you kind of got to go by di ferent metrics because they didn’t have the sales. But I said what I said.”
Last year, Ja Rule tweeted: “There ain’t 50 rappers dead, alive or waiting to be born better than me… #ICONN #Vibes @billboard congrats to everyone on the list well deserved but check my resume… #ICONN #Vibes.” “I’m what they call a POLARIZING figure… You can love me or hate me but you will respect me… Men lie Women lie numbers don’t!!!,” he added.
