DJ Envy explains his criticism for Kanye West.
In a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, the co-hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy reacted to the latest Kanye West project “DONDA“, and they had some harsh words for the GOOD Music boss. While Charlamagne called the album “lackluster and too long,” DJ Envy straight up bashed Kanye and called him a “Clown“. Now in a new episode of the show, DJ Envy explains why he said that about Ye and still stands by his words.
“I called him a clown and I still stand by that and I still mean that,” he says. “So many people called me. Artists, athletes, OGs, newer artists, younger artists. Kanye’s team. And They asked me why I felt that way.”
“They asked me why do you think that the people that I named, which was Pusha T, John Monopoly, Free, and Bu, were like that too. Because I felt like I said, you enable him to do it. You don’t stop him from doing the wild out stuff behind the scenes that’s really disrespectful. He should be humbled. They told me ‘that’s a lie.’ They were like ‘it’s not true’. They were like ‘when you’re dealing with someone who has emotional problems and bipolar and things like that, you can’t necessarily control him, it’s uncontrolable’ You do what you can to make sure things are alright.”
“They said they agree that some of the things he does is foul, but they can’t control that man,” Envy continues. “I called them clowns as well. And I called Pusha T yesterday, I called Free yesterday. I spoke to Bu yesterday for a while, and we had a great conversation. They told me what they’re trying to do to help that situation, and to those brothers, I get it. Me calling y’all a clown was foul. But I still think Kanye is a clown for the things that he do. I still like the Yeezys though.”
Envy referred to Yeezy as “a clown and a circus” on Monday. The 43-year-old went on to say,, “I’m ashamed of the people around him—Bu [Thiam], Free, Pusha, Monopoly…he is a clown. And if you don’t get your guy together—like Charlamagne said seven years ago, when he came up here and said, ‘The people around you don’t love you.’ And Kanye, the people around you don’t love you. You are a clown.”
