DaBaby reflects on how he changed his life after homophobic remarks at Rolling Loud.
Last year, DaBaby caused a major controversy during his Rolling Loud Miami set, where the rapper made a homophobic speech. The comments made him gets cancelled from several further festivals, and the rapper connected with some LGBTQ+ to offer his apology and gets more knowledge regarding his statement. Since then, the Cleveland born came back stronger than ever and gave us music on a consistent basis.
Just the other day, DaBaby connected with NBA Youngboy for the new joint album “Better Than You“, and now he made a visit to SiriusXM for the promo run. “I mean, I grow every day, but, above all, I’m just more knowledgeable about the tolerance of the business I’m in. It’s a learning process. You know, being an artist, 24/7 full time. Not only that, like, I was an artist at the highest level. Like I made it to the highest level of this sh*t. So it’s like you get the adjustments that you gotta make, just like becoming a grown-a*s man in life.”
“I had no choice,” he said on adjustments he made after the controversy. “But that’s what I do. I adapt, I adapt by all means under any circumstance, I adapt to whatever. Wherever I go, life is life.”
“I mean, a lot of, a lot, of course, as a human, you know, of course, you know, I got the urge to defend myself every single time. You, I mean, cuz you don’t when it, when it’s, when it leans towards like personal sh*t when it’s bullsh*t or whatever, like sh*t that, you know, can’t get nowhere in there, like close to affecting the food that’s put on my, my daughter’s table or you know what I mean? Or the people around me or you know, businesses that I’m affiliated to. I really don’t. I can give two f**ks about it, but like when it, you know, when it touch personal places, cuz that’s the sh*t I really do care about, you know what I’m saying? That’s when yeah, you gonna see me mother f**ker gonna have to hold my tongue. You know what I’m saying? They gonna have to come snatch that mother f**ker out of my mouth is gonna get like that. Cause I’m human. Right. You know what I’m saying? But other than that, you know what I mean? It really ain’t about nothing. That’s what come with the territory. Absolutely. Life is life. “
