CyHi The Prynce is among one of Kodak Black’s admirers.
CyHi The Prynce is prepping the release of his new album “The Story of EGOT” this summer, through his own label EGOR Records in partnership with EMPIRE. The rapper has kicked off the promo run as he recently sat down with HipHopDX for an interview with Jeremy Hecht. During the interview, the Georgia artist was asked about calling Kodak Black his favorite artist during “No Dope on Sundays” era in 2017.
“He’s still my favorite artist, He’s just genuine,” he said at around the 32-minute mark. “When you hear a genuine rapper … because you hear dudes that brag about their street life, but the next line, they don’t give you that perspective of, ‘Why I had to…’ He gave you the reason why he is the way he is. Versus most artists just tell you, “This is how I am. This is what I’m giving you, period.” You know what I mean? So I think the perspective, the Gemini, the battle between himself is what’s special to me when he raps, for sure.”
The Florida rapper has been making headlines since his release from prison last year. He was recently praised for his contribution to Kendrick Lamar’s new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”.
The 37-year-old also discussed his rap moniker, how he imagined working with Akon, Kanye West, and JAY-Z, the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album, and more in the interview, which you can watch below (skip to 32 minutes if you want to hear about Kodak Black).
