Chuck D praise Eminem and Black Thought on Drink Champs.
Eminem and Black Thought are two of the lyrical monsters in hip-hop, and they now receive major praise from Chuck D. The Public Enemy legend recently made an appearance on DJ EFN & NORE’s Drink Champs podcast, where he compliments Eminem and Black Thought.
“Eminem and Black Thought… big ups to Black Thought, The Roots, and also Eminem. Cyborgs, man,” he said. “They’re cyborgs, but let me tell you this: we can also get caught up cause’ you know, you got future generations, and then you got people who ain’t gonna even get on the register who are so dope.”

The New York emcee also praised Skyzoo on the show, who responded through his IG to give Chuck D some love back. “The good word on a Sunday from the pastor of hip-hop, the legendary rhyme animal Chuck D,” Skyzoo wrote. “An absolute icon. Honored x humbled x grateful to say the least. Thank you OG. The book I studied from as a young aspiring writer had chapters dedicated to your penmanship in it. I learned from you 1,000%. Salute OG.”
In February, Eminem and Black Thought were both included in Billboard’s Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list, with Eminem taking the fifth spot and the frontman of The Roots, Tariq Trotter, placed at number 28. Meanwhile, Chuck D himself was ranked at number 34 on the list.
Although Marshall Mathers and Tariq Trotter haven’t collaborated extensively, they have collaborated on a few occasions to showcase their sharp lyrical skills. They famously shared the stage in the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher with Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), and they teamed up for the first time on record in 2020 with “Yah Yah.”
