50 Cent is done “carrying” G-Unit, won’t do another album.
50 Cent was the latest guest on The Breakfast Club for a new interview, where the rapper was asked if he would ever do a reunion G-Unit album. The POWER mogul states that he’s done carrying the group and there probably won’t be another project from the disbanded group.
“I probably won’t do a project with them,” 50 responds to questions about a project with Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo at the 8:00 minute mark. “I’m done with carrying them around. My back hurt.”
“[Tony Yayo] is a different animal,” 50 Cent said on still doing tours with the rapper. “If he does something wrong, I don’t care what magnitude of it is, he’ll go, ‘My bad.’ And he’ll go, ‘Aight.’ And we just keep going ’til the next time he does something wrong.”
50 Cent Explains Why He Didn’t Sign J. Cole: “I Didn’t Really Know If Everybody Was Ready”
“That is our relationship. Now, when you look at Banks, all these other guys, they came in by way of him and they have a different temperament. It’s not like, it’s not the same relationship. So, I don’t necessarily go back to carrying him. Yay is different.”
G-Unit was formed in late 90s by 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo, and went on to drop their debut album “Beg For Mercy” in 2003. The group was later joined by Young Buck, The Game and Kidd Kidd. In 2018, Kidd Kidd announced his departure from the group and label to become independent. Fifty then announced that the group has disbanded.
Hits from “Beg For Mercy” included “I Wanna Get to Know You,” “Poppin’ Them Thangs,” and “Stunt 101.” The Recording Industry Association of America certified the 18-track album as double platinum 5 years after it was released. The group released their second album Terminate on Sight the same year (2008). This would be their final studio release as a group.
