Mount Westmore releases the “Big Subwoofer” official video.
Following an announcement earlier this week, Mount Westmore has officially released their single called “Big Subwoofer“. The song premiered with an Alien Theme official video which is directed by Jesse Wellens and Sam Macaroni. Mount Westmore is a supergroup of Rap icons Snoop Dogg, E-40, Ice Cube, and Too Short, and it was formed in early 2020. The group is prepping the release of their debut album at the end of this year.
Snoop discussed the album in a press statement, stating: “There’s so much talent on this record… so many styles of music, it breaks the algorithm. Right now, the algorithm is telling us you have to rap this way, you have to sound this way, but they’re not telling you how it’s supposed to feel. My algorithm is going to give you a feeling, not a sound.”
The music video for this song features the four rappers embarking on a journey to another planet via spaceship. Snoop Dogg serves as the pilot and Ice Cube as the shooter. The video, directed by Jesse Wellens and Sam Macaroni, includes extraterrestrial beings, and a cameo from the Dogecoin mascot Shiba Inu.
Many characteristics of current hip-hop may be found in “Big Subwoofer.” A low, throbbing bassline drives the beat, with deep vocal samples handling the song’s chorus, “Big subwoofer in the back like, what’s up/ Blow the windows off the frame, it’s a party when I pull up.” Lyrically, “Big Subwoofer” is exactly what you’d expect from the four rappers. Over the previous 30-40 years, each of the artists has established a characteristic flow, and whether it’s the space E-40 allows between lines, Too $hort and Snoop’s laid-back delivery, or Ice Cube’s hard-hitting ferocity, everyone lends a unique aspect to the song’s 3:52 length.
Mt. Westmore received some promotion support from Eminem who tweeted out their debut video clip. After acquiring its exclusive tape of the Serch Says podcast with Short Dawg, we discovered Too $hort, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and E-40 had formed a supergroup in December 2020. “I get a call during the early part of the quarantine from E-40 and Ice Cube going, ‘Man, we feel like we should do an album. Like me, you … it’s E-40, Cube, Too $hort and Snoop Dogg,” he explained. “And I’m like — E-40 and Too $hort from the Bay, Snoop Dogg and Cube are from L.A. and we like the West Coast foundation. We sat there and was like, ‘F**k it, let’s do it.’ So, we start coming up with beats.”
The group first performed the song earlier this year, at the Triller Fight Club event between Jake Paul and Ben Askren.
The song appeared on the group’s debut album “Snoop Cube 40 Short.” The project was originally released on a blockchain platform Gala Music a few months ago, and now it finally arrived on all streaming platforms with a pack of 16 tracks.
Eminem also promoted the video with the trailer, hinting at a cameo in the music video, which didn’t happen. Snoop Dogg has also announced his new album “Algorithm“, which is slated to drop next month.
