In one of his recent interviews, Wayne addressed DaBaby’s Rolling Loud controversy which resulted in him getting dropped from various festivals. “The spotlight on artists and celebrities is absolutely crazy. You don’t even have to be a celebrity. Even normal people can feel like they’re wrong because their 200 followers said something. But that’s the power of social media today,” said Wayne.
The song is the rapper’s most recent release, and it comes after he was chastised for homophobic remarks he made earlier this summer at the Rolling Loud Miami event on July 25, during which he made stupid and uneducated remarks regarding HIV/AIDS. “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly s*xually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up,” he told attendees. “Ladies, if your p—- smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up. Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d— in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up.”
An hour later, rapper T.I. followed DaBaby’s set. in which he defended his fellow artist while also sharing his respect for openly gay artists such as Lil Nas X and Frank Ocean, he shared a nearly five-and-a-half-minute video.
DaBaby addressed the issue and repercussions with a freestyle over WizKid and Tems’ summer smash “Essence,” and he also had a contentious line on Kanye West’s “Jail Pt. 2.”
The track follows up DaBaby’s previous offering, a freestyle over Moneybagg Yo’s “Wockesha.” Listen to the new song below.
