Young Thug releases his new album “PUNK”.
After a long wait, Young Thug has finally dropped his highly anticipated new album “PUNK“. The project is released after a little delay, as Thugger unveiled the official tracklist for the project a few hours back. The album contains 20 tracks, with a huge list of star-studded guest appearances.
Young Thug Week adds to his extensive discography with his latest release, So Much Fun, which was officially his first studio album in 2019. Young Thug’s catalogue is chock-full of critically praised albums like Barter 6, Jeffery, and his Slime Season trilogy, to name a few. Punk is the rapper’s sophomore album, morphing soundscapes to match his own glittering, pink-glazed vision.
Young Thug enlists the likes of Drake, Travis Scott, J. Cole, Gunna, Future, Doja Cat, Post Malone, ASAP Rocky, and more on the album. Thug’s regular collaborator Gunna assisted him on multiple tracks. Drake and La Flame both featured on the same track called “Bubbly”. J. Cole, who had been giving a lot of guest verses recently, assists on the song “Stressed”. Post Malone and ASAP Rocky both appear on the song called called “Livin It Up”, while Doja Cat assists the YSL boss on “Icy Hot”.
With sales of 12,000 pure album copies and 90,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, Punk debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 list. Thug’s third US number-one debut on the list occurred with this song. Additionally, 102 million times of the album’s tracks were streamed on-demand. The album sold an extra 34,000 units in its second week before falling to number seven on the list.
The album also features posthumous appearances from Juice WRLD and Mac Miller. Earlier today, Mac Miller’s fan-favourite “Faces” mixtape was also released on streaming services.
The new album is a follow-up to Atlanta rapper’s last solo project “So Much Fun” which dropped in 2019. Since then he has dropped a few joint projects, including “Slime & B” with Chris Brown last year, and a Young Stoner Life compilation project “Slime Language 2” which was released a few months ago.
