Westside Gunn drops his new album ‘WHO MADE THE SUNSHINE’ feat Armani Caeser, Black Thought & others.
After giving us the ‘Pray for Paris‘ album in April, Westside Gunn returns with some new material as he drops his Shady Records debut album “WHO MADE THE SUNSHINE” with management handled by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
The project contains 11 tracks with guest appearances from Conway, Benny The Butcher, Slick Rick, Armani Caesar, Black Thought, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Smoke DZA, and more. The production is handled by the Alchemist, Just Blaze, and more.
Westside Gunn released a short documentary on “Who Made the Sunshine” in the lead up to its release. The documentary is set in Alabama, where the Buffalo native lived while on the run from the authorities, and it focuses on his mother Connie. Connie is showered with presents by her son, including a new car, after providing insights about the rapper’s past and upbringing.
The release of WHO MADE THE SUNSHINE was originally scheduled for August but was delayed out of reverence for DJ Shay, the in-house dj and longtime partner of Griselda, who passed tragically in the middle of August from unspecified circumstances. In a statement lamenting Shay’s passing, Gunn said: “U was there EVERY step of the way, It was an honour to help your dream come true for Buffalo Hip Hop.”
Griselda has taken 2020 by storm thanks to their unwavering commitment to achieving their full potential in all areas. With the likes of Boldy James, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Billy and Armani Caesar on board, the label can only go up. Westside Gunn predicted that 2018 would be a good year earlier this year, and he’s stuck to his word with every drop. Who Made The Sunshine is the rapper’s third release of the year, following his critically acclaimed EP Pray 4 Paris and his newly released Flygod Is An Awesome God 2 mixtape.
