Rod Wave shares his new album “Beautiful Mind”.
After a little delay, Rod Wave has finally dropped his fourth studio album “Beautiful Mind”. The project is a follow-up to his last year’s “SoulFly“ which debuted number one on US Billboard 200 with 130,000 album-equivalent units.
Friday saw the release of Rod Wave’s Beautiful Mind, which is something the artist had earlier promised would be his “last sad a*s album.”
“Beautiful Mind” debuted with the equivalent of 115,000 sales in the US, including 158 million plays, with songs like “Yungen,” which features Jack Harlow, doing particularly well on Apple Music. The overall revenue for “Beautiful Mind” was a little lower than what Wave earned for “SoulFly,” his last No. 1 album, which debuted in April 2021 with 189 million streams.
The new project features 24 tracks, with previously released singles “Stone Rolling” & “Alone“. The additional guest appearances comes from Jack Harlow on “Yungen” and December Joy on “Quiet Storm”. The other solo tracks include “Never Get Over Me”, “Sweet Little Lies”, “Married Next Year”, “Rockstar Heart”, “Me vs. The World” and more.
Rod Wave broke some news around two months ago that swiftly reached followers all across the world. On June 13, he tweeted, “On my baby’s dis my last sad a*s album I’m off dat jus wanna live happy travel get dis money,” indicating that he is over with the melancholy songs. Wave is primarily recognized for his “Debbie Downer” music, which not many people like, but it is encouraging to see he is changing direction and pushing ahead this time. Following Wave’s album Soulfly from 2021, Beautiful Mind is released which is RIAA certified platinum.
Drake’s contemplation on finally choosing to decline a collaboration sparked a nice public dialogue between Rod and Drake before to the album’s release. As Rod admitted this week on Complex’s 360 With Speedy Morman programme, he wasn’t happy with the ideas he popped up with for the potential Scary Hours 2 collaboration. “I wanted that sh*t to be perfect, because it was Drake, you know what I’m saying?” Drake himself responded in the comment thread of an Instagram post from the official Complex page after Rod gave his explanation. Rod’s choice exemplifies “true creativity” in action, as Drake noted.
