Lil Yachty drops the new project “Michigan Boy Boat”.
Following the release of the “CORTEX” song & video a few days ago, Lil Yachty continues releasing new material as he drops his new project called “Michigan Boy Boat“. The project contains 14 tracks with guest appearances from Tee Grizzley, Swae Lee, Icewear Vezzo, Sada Baby, and more. Along with the project, he also dropped a music video for “Stunt Double” and also released part 1 of “The Making of Michigan Boy Boat” documentary.
Lil Yachty is coming off a big year in 2020, completing the Lil Boat trilogy with “Lil Boat 3” and the deluxe album LB3.5, which put him on the map. He’s been outspoken about his support for the Michigan rap scene since then, with the midwest sound energizing the rapper to start a new chapter in his career.
“Man folks always ask me, ‘What’s your thing with them, you know, Detroit dawgs? You know, why you doing all this?’” he said in a trailer for the project. “I found a love for Michigan. The city [Detroit] itself is just a vibe that’s unmatched. I established this relationship… This fam with all these guys all throughout Michigan, not just Detroit. Trynna put them on a pedestal, give them a platform they may have not had before.”
He recently announced that he’s working on 4-5 projects and promised to release a lot of new music this year.
Lil Yachty released a video for his song “Royal Rumble” in February, which featured Krispylife Kid, RMC Mike, Babyface Ray, Rio Da Yung OG, and Icewear Vezzo, as well as several other MCs from Michigan’s thriving rap scene.
Along with the new mixtape, Lil Yachty has been hard at work on a heist film based on the card game Uno, a series for HBO Max, a cryptocurrency venture, a partnership with Reese’s Puffs cereal, a remix of the Saved by the Bell theme song, and becoming a TikTok favorite. To put it bluntly, Lil Yachty has big plans for 2021.
