Latto Drops Her New Album 777 Feat. Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, Kodak Black & More

Latto releases her new album “777”.

After teasing it for the past few weeks, Latto has finally dropped her brand new album “777”. The project is a follow up to her 2020’s debut effort “Queen of da Souf.” The new album contains 13 tracks, and it is laced with previously released 21 Savage collaboration “Wheelie“.

The 13-song compilation comes roughly two years after Latto’s first album Queen of da Souf, which was released in August 2020. Latto has already released songs like the Mariah Carey-sampling “Big Energy” and the 21 Savage featuring “Wheelie.”

The additional guest appearances from Kodak Black on “Bussdown”, Lil Wayne & Childish Gambino on “Sunshine”, Lil Durk on “Like A Thug”, and Nardo Wick on “Stepper”. The project will also have a bonus track “Big Energy” remix with a surprise feature, and it will release on 28th March.

Latto stated that she was experimenting with many genres and sounds for the album to show off her flexibility, including pop, R&B, trap, and rhythmic vibes, in an interview with Complex. She said that she began working on it immediately after releasing Queen of da Souf (2020), and that she recorded the album’s opening track that same year. She also gave the following justification for the album’s name.

In a recent interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Latto revealed that one of the features on the album gave her a hard time clearing the verse because she wouldn’t respond to a DM. “Being a female rapper, I’m clearing my album right now. It’s been difficult to deal with these men. They don’t know how to keep it business,” she said. “I don’t care, baby. I’ma just keep it 100. It’s a feature on my album. It was difficult to clear and they tryna drop they nuts on me because I won’t respond to a DM.”

She continues without naming the artist, “Just because I love the song so much and I had to turn it in yesterday. So, I didn’t really have a choice. So, I was like backed into a corner, like bullied. I wish more females would speak up on stuff. I know the label they say, ‘Don’t do that. Bad business, or whatever.’ Man, these folks be trying to drop nuts on female rappers. I’m not gon’ shut up about that. “We tolerate too much. We think, like, oh, that just comes with the game of being a female rapper. No, it shouldn’t, though. That’s lame.”

The fans speculated that it was Kodak Black, and the Florida rapper later claimed that it was not him. “That Mulatto Girl IS NOT Talkin Bout Me Homie,” he tweeted. “I See Y’all Steady Reachin Lol … Shawty Ain’t Even Say A N***a Name On Dat Sh*t Ion Know Why Tf Y’all Tryna Make A N***a Wear Dat Jacket I’m Too Fly Fa Dat Sh*t Homie.”

777 does have a little bit of just about everything, and Latto demonstrated that she is capable of much more than just rapping over any track. “The pop sound from this project is ‘Big Energy,'” she says of the first track. “I have an R&B sound.” I obtained the rap trap sound. I’ve got some rhythmic things from Pharrell, just different swaggy stuff. ‘Sunshine’ has a more creative vibe to it. So it’s really just a slew of different stuff.”
