Brent Faiyaz releases his new project “Wasteland”.
Brent Faiyaz is back and finally dropped his long-awaited new album “Wasteland”. It is a follow-up to his 2017’s debut effort “Sonder Son”. The R&B singer previously put out collaborations with DJ Dahi, Tyler, The Creator, Drake and The Neptunes off the project.
The full thing contains 19 tracks with additional guest appearances from Alicia Keys on “Ghetto Gatsby”, Joony on “FYTD” and more.
“It was less of an album process and more of a life process. I just made a collection of songs and tied a story line together once I saw that they all kind of shared a similar theme. I didn’t really realize I was working on an album until I was maybe a little over halfway through. Then I realized, Wait a minute, this is a body of work,” he said about the album to Vogue.
Brent’s latest album will be his first release since “F**k The World,” which peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard 200 in 2020. He’s dropped a few singles since then, including “Wasting Time” featuring Drake and The Neptunes.
He also collaborated with Tyler, The Creator on their track “Gravity,” and he contributed a verse to Baby Keem’s 2021 debut The Melodic Blue and Tem’s EP If Orange Was a Place. He teased Wasteland before by releasing his most recent track “Mercedes,” but he has yet to reveal a release date for the highly anticipated album.
