Amazon Prime drops trailer for Lil Baby’s upcoming documentary.

“Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby,” is releasing on Amazon Prime Video on August 26th, and today the platform has dropped the official trailer. The trailer features interview teasers from Lil Baby‘s close collaborators and friends like Drake, Young Thug, Quality Control CEO Pierre Thomas and more.

“After I got locked up again, my perspective changed,” says Baby in the trailer. “America has a system in place and it’s designed for us to fail. It’s a trap. I couldn’t go back to prison, [so] I became an artist with something to say and people to stand for.”

“I’m blessed to be able to tell my story and have people care to hear it,” he said in a statement previously. “This film is a real look into my journey, and if it inspires even one person to believe that they can get through hard stuff and dare to follow a dream, then it was worth every penny spent and hour worked. My story is many people’s story and I’m excited to share it.”

“If even one person is inspired to think their life can change, or be close to what they dream of, then this documentary was worth making,” the rapper said. “I just want to share my story in the hope that it helps others get to their own best story.”

Executive producers for the film include Lil Baby, Quality Control founders Pierre “Pee” Thomas and Kevin “Coach K” Lee, and Karam Gill. “Lil Baby is an artist who truly evolved and grew to become one of today’s most important voices for change,” Gill relayed to Complex. “I hope his journey sheds light on the larger socioeconomic issues our country is facing and leaves viewers feeling inspired.”

“While still a teenager, Baby— known to friends and family as Dominique Armani Jones— was one of the most notorious figures in the streets of West Atlanta, before he was arrested and sent to prison. After his release in 2016, he faced a hard choice: Return to the fast money of the streets, or take a chance that his charisma and untested talent could bring him success as a rapper. In 2020, his second album, My Turn, was the year’s top seller across all genres of music. Today, Lil Baby is a devoted father to his two young boys and a powerful voice in the fight for racial justice and police reform. Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby chronicles the astonishing rise of a singular artist and activist, and explores the systemic oppression that keeps far too many people of color from participating in the American Dream.”

With a star-studded cast of cameos from collaborators like Young Thug, Drake, Gunna, and more, Baby has plenty of support in conveying his narrative.

The documentary was produced by Lil Baby, Pierre “P” Thomas, Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Karam Gill, Daniel Malikyar, Andrew Primavera, and Blase Biello, and it premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, following by a live by the musician himself.

Following the Documentary, the Atlanta rapper earned another #1 on Billboard 200 with his latest album “It’s Only Me“, which moved 216,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, the biggest debut of Baby’s career.

The album consists of 23 tracks, with guest appearances from EST Gee, Nardo Wick, Lil Baby, Pooh Shiesty, Young Thug, Future, Jeremih and more.
