Corey Taylor, Slipknot’s lead vocalist and lyricist, recently sat down with Bert Kreisher for an exclusive interview session where they talk about why he quit drugs/alcohol, fame, his new solo album, and more. While talking about rap music and has two names as inspiration, Prince and Eminem. Slipknot’s Corey Taylor also reveals that he is a massive Eminem Fan and reveals why Detroit Rapper and Prince inspire him.

“Yeah, I’m a massive, massive Em fan, man. And I loved anybody from the Midwest because I still considered Michigan the Midwest,” says Slipknot’s lead vocalist. “I love anybody from the Midwest who made it.bSo not only was I into Eminem, but I was also into Prince because Prince was Minneapolis. To me, that was like The Grail. I was like, ‘Oh, f**k!‘”
Taylor spoke about starting up in a disadvantaged family and finally rising to international prominence. As Corey reflected on the difficult days of his youth, he took a minute to pay tribute to musicians in the Midwest who had endured the same fate as him. Taylor explained that he was drawn to Prince since he was from Minneapolis, a city where he couldn’t see the risks he posed. The Slipknot frontman also revealed that he is a great admirer of Eminem, who is known for his troubled background.
