Big K.R.I.T drops the “Cadillactica” album.

Cadillactica’s candy paint has very few nicks. The album sparkles like a supernova, save for the discordant lead single “Pay Attention” and a few deep otherworldly moments. “King of the South” is a bold claim that K.R.I.T. can back up with the following statement: “I don’t do it for the Blogspot comment box, I do it for the OGs.” For a more modern feel, he delegated parts of the production tasks to soul musicians like DJ Dahi, Terrace Martin, and Raphael Saadiq. There are fewer samples. The instrumentation is more grandiose. The soulfulness is still present. And the wordplay is still top-notch. K.R.I.T. says, “Sometimes you just need that new energy.” Cadillactica is K.R.I.T.’s strongest and most unified work to date, thanks to its diversity and focus.
The album opened at number five on the Billboard 200 in the United States, selling 44,000 copies. The album slid to number 43 on the list in its second week, selling 9,000 copies, bringing its total album sales to 53,000.
