J. Cole drops the “Punchin’ the Clock” music video.
J. Cole continues pushing his new album “The Off-Season” as he drops another new music video off it. The Dreamville boss dropped the official video for “Punchin’ the Clock“, which was the 5th track on the latest J. Cole album. The visual for Tripp Kramer produced track is directed by Scott Lazer which shows Jermaine traveling around in a taxi.
Scott Lazer, who also directed Cole’s videos including “KOD,” “ATM,” “Kevin’s Heart,” and the Applying Pressure: The Off-Season documentary, directed the two-minute clip. The picture, which follows Cole’s voyage throughout New York City as he gets a cab, travels about, and ultimately grabs some supper at a food truck, is energetic and direct, much like the artist’s constant flow on the song.
It is the third music video for his new album, after “Amari” and “Applying Pressure“. J. Cole’s latest album debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 which also made him the first-ever rapper to have his first 6 studio projects debut at the top in the first week.
Cole’s Off-Season debuted at No. 1 with 282,000 equivalent copies in its first week, putting up some amazing figures. There were 37,000 album sales and an incredible 325.05 million on-demand streaming in that total. It’s the rappers’ sixth No. 1 album overall, and their second greatest week for a hip-hop release in 2021. The album dropped to No. 2 in its second week on the charts, barely below Olivia Rodrigo’s debut.
J. Cole’s first studio album since KOD in 2018—The Off-Season—arrived on May 14. The Off-Season “finds him considering creative ways to reduce gun violence one minute, then taking on the misogynistic in another.
The first Basketball Africa League concluded last week following Cole’s tenure with the Rwanda Patriots. Before leaving home due to a “family duty,” he took part in games and netted five points.
