Eminem drops video for “River” featuring Ed Sheeran.
After teasing us in the past week, Eminem has finally released the music video for his collaboration with Ed Sheeran called “River“. He drops the video on Valentine’s Day which he called Unhappy Valentine’s Day. The song appeared on his latest album ‘Revival‘.
The dramatic video begins with confessionals from Eminem and Ed Sheeran, expressing their different thoughts on love. The plot follows Marshall Mathers’ ill-fated romance with his sweetheart, played by actress Sarah Ashley Toups, through hotel vignettes, cell phone films, and security footage.
Director Emil Nava provides a roadmap into the creative process for Em’s powerful video throughout the four-minute piece. “They were quite clear when I got the brief that they wanted to do something that Em hasn’t done before,” Nava adds. “I thought to myself, ‘What if you developed a documentary on the song’s significance and then virtually blurred the borders between truth and fiction?'”
