The Weeknd shares a visual for “Echoes of Silence”.
It’s been 10 years since The Weeknd dropped his mixtape “Echoes of Silence”, the third project of his iconic compilation album “Trilogy.” The XO boss decided to celebrate the occasion with a futuristic music video for the title track. The track is produced by Illangelo, and the official visual is created by artist Hajime Sorayama.
“‘Cause you thought there was more to us / But you knew how this would end / It’s gonna end how you expected / Girl, you’re such a mas*chist / And I ask why,” he sings.
Kurando Furuya directed the CGI clip, with artistic direction from renowned Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama. Soryama, who is perhaps most known on Rap Twitter for creating Tyga’s Kyoto album cover, returns with his distinctive sexy robots for a chrome-finished journey through a post-apocalyptic, Dune-esque terrain. If you were there when “Echoes of Silence” initially came out, you’ll be surprised to hear the rather lo-fi piano dirge given such lavish treatment.
Recently, The Weeknd also celebrated the 5th anniversary of “Starboy” with a music video for “Die For You“.
