Roddy Ricch drops ‘The Box’ video.
After giving us the visual for ‘Boom Boom Room‘ last month, Roddy Ricch continues releasing new material as he drops the video for his #1 single ‘The Box‘. It appeared on his debut album ‘Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial‘.
As of July 2, 2020, “The Box” had sold 4.7 million equivalent units in the US, making it the largest single of the second half of 2019. It was selected Song of the Year by Apple Music. At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, it got three nominations, including Song of the Year.
“The Box” spent eleven weeks at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 after debuting at number 47 on the December 21, 2019 issue and reaching number one four weeks later, becoming Ricch’s first number one on the chart and the first new song to top the chart in the decade of the 2020s—since both Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Post Malone’s “Circles” both began their runs at the top in 2019.
The song spent its second week at the top of Billboard’s Streaming Songs list (with 68.2 million streams) and ascended to number eight on the Digital Songs chart with 11,000 downloads sold during the same week. Ricch’s first number-one hit on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, the song also became Ricch’s first number-one song on both lists.
