Kendrick Lamar drops music video for “Loyalty” with Rihanna.
Kendrick Lamar is back with some new material as he drops a song titled “Loyalty”. The music video also features Pop Star Rihanna. Currently, Kendrick Lamar is on his DAMN. Tour. The track appeared on his most recent DAMN. Album.
This video, like previous ones, is directed by The Little Homies (alongside Dave Meyers). Prior to this, Lamar debuted the video for “ELEMENT,” which was largely influenced by the work of renowned black photographer Gordon Parks. The Gordon Parks Foundation responded to the video with Okayplayer immediately after it was released, with Peter W. Kunhardt, Jr., the Gordon Parks Foundation’s Executive Director, saying: The Gordon Parks Foundation is pleased to see Kendrick Lamar recognize Gordon Parks’ important photography while working at life magazine and honoring his legacy. The Gordon Parks Foundation uses Gordon’s creative work to educate and inspire young artists.
It features all the elements of an action film: sweeping cityscape panoramas, scantily dressed dancers, an interrogation, a murder, and a car collision. Lamar managed to condense all of the drama into a four-minute video, with Rihanna playing his sidekick. By far the most suspenseful sequence occurs two minutes in, when Rihanna places her life in Kendrick’s hands. “You trust me?” he asks as he holds her hand as she dangles from a skyscraper’s edge. There is no such thing as pressure.
