Kanye West drops an animated video for “Hurricane” with Lil Baby & The Weeknd.
While Kanye West’s “Donda 2” failed to get eligible for Billboard Chart after violating their bundle policy with Stem Player, the rapper revisit his last year’s album for a new visual. The GOOD Music boss dropped the music video for the fan-favourite song “Hurricane” which featured assistance from The Weeknd and Lil Baby.
It was released as the lead single in September 2021 and received RIAA Platinum Certification earlier this year. The track is also nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the upcoming 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
Ye’s latest album DONDA 2 had its Miami debut in January during a live listening event. The record is no longer eligible for the Billboard charts because Billboard believes it violates their regulation on product bundles now that it has been made available to all players. On its official site, the stem player is available for purchase for fans who wish to hear DONDA 2. The portable gadget lets users personalise their musical experience.
The visual is released just after Ye’s latest poem “Dead” on his social media. “I feel already compromised that I have to justify my expression after over 20 years of art that I’ve contributed to the planet but I also see the need to make sure we as a species are allowed to still feel anything Men not allowed to cry celebrities not allowed to cry I will not explain this new piece for the explanation destroys the mystery and magic of true love and puts it in a box that can be counted Art is subjective Art only works when it is the artist absolute truth Someone’s truth can be another persons lie We don’t all have to feel the same because we are not the same With out further ado I present to you my latest creation it is called DEAD,” he wrote.
Ye’s latest music video comes after he released a contentious video for his “Eazy” track with The Game, which drew a lot of backlash. Kanye depicts the kidnapping of Pete Davidson – whom he refers to as “Skete” rather than Pete – and buried him alive in another scary claymation-crafted video for “Eazy,” a scenario that fans described as vulgar and childish. “EVERYONE LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER/EXCEPT SKETE YOU KNOW WHO/JK HE’S FINE,” the video’s final message read.
