French Montana drops the video for “No Stylist” featuring Drake.
French Montana released three new songs last month which includes the much-awaited collaboration with Drake ‘No Stylist‘. Today French returns with the official video for the track, which will appear on his upcoming album as the lead single.
In the first 30 seconds of the song, he mentions everything from Chanel to Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Jimmy Choo. But the rapper isn’t only interested in the high-end side of the industry; he also has a soft spot for its historical underpinnings, particularly when it comes to hip-hop.
Montana has published an exclusive photo diary with Vogue that chronicles the making of the video and features plenty of off-duty style moments from the actors. It’s wonderful to be reminded of the genre’s stylistic lineage, one where Slick Rick’s huge chains or even Dapper Dan’s scarf-and-blazer opulence were the norm.
“No Stylist” is the fourth collaboration between French and Drake, following “Stay Schemin’,” “Pop That,” and “No Shopping.” “With people like us at this level of our career, we don’t do stuff for money anymore,” said French. “Where we at now is more like we don’t do stuff unless we love it, unless it feels right. But I love that I’m in that space that we can make classic music. We always come together once a year and do one of those special ones.”
