Watch the official live video of Eminem & Jay-Z performing “Renegade” in 2009.
Back in 2009 during the ‘Relapse‘ era, Eminem joined forces with Jay-Z to perform their collaboration “Renegade” at DJ Hero’s concert.
DJ Hero announced its massive 93-song in-game tracklist in 2009, which included songs by the Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, 50 Cent, David Bowie, Eminem, and Jay-Z.
“The tracks we put on this disc are mostly overlooked or rarer favorites of mine from all different parts of my career. I also put a brand new, unheard song on there so even the biggest fan has something new,” said Eminem.
The two iconic rappers also performed their legendary song “Renegade” at DJ Hero’s Party. Since then, you could find many fan-shot videos and pictures from the performance but as it seems, the official video is also available. “This is a once in a lifetime set of shows and I know we’re both really going to bring it to our hometowns,” Eminem said at Comerica Park. “The fans are going to love this — and so am I. It’s gonna be historic.”Except for a few secret events following the release of his most recent album Relapse, the shows will be Eminem’s second and third official appearances since 2005, with his sole previous appearance being at the 2009 Voodoo Festival in New Orleans.
“These shows are like a dream come true. I’ve always hoped that hip-hop could play any stadium like other genres of music,” Jay-Z added. “How perfect is it that Eminem and I get to play our hometowns and show how far the live rap experience has come? Fun and historic, a great combination all around the board.” Even though Jay-Z has played Yankee Stadium before, he and Alicia Keys performed “Empire State of Mind” from Blueprint 3 in the new House That Ruth Built last year during the Yankees’ World Series run.
50 Cent Claims Eminem’s Impact On Hip-Hop Is Bigger Than JAY-Z
Jay-song Z’s “Renegade” is the 12th track of his sixth studio album, The Blueprint. The song was written by Jay-Z, Eminem, and Luis Resto, and it was produced and featured by Eminem, who is the album’s sole guest appearance featuring rap verses. It was initially a Bad Meets Evil duet between Eminem and Royce da 5’9″, but Royce was subsequently replaced with Jay-Z. The original is available on mixtapes and has been leaked on the internet.
Because of the substance of his lyrics, Eminem has received a lot of flak. Many parents publicly condemned his music because of his links to drug use and religion. This outcry, according to Eminem, is hypocritical, as these parents are to use him as a “media scapegoat” to distract people from their own failings as parents. Both of his verses state that if the need arises, Eminem and he will kill. In the end, both Jay-Z and Eminem use the hook to say that, despite public disapproval for various reasons, they will not change their ways and have “never been afraid to talk about anything.”
There were many fan-made videos on the internet but finally the official live video of their performance surfaces online.
