Lil Wayne performs at the 2025 BET Awards following the new album release.
The 2025 BET Awards took place at Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, where Lil Wayne was among the performers.
A woman draped in a red Young Money robe told the mythical story of Lil Wayne, as heard on intro “King Carter” off his new album “Tha Carter VI”. The church choir then sang the opening to Weezy’s song “Welcome to Tha Carter” before the rapper hits the stage. Wayne performed the song, followed by his old hit “A Milli” off “Tha Carter III.”
This past week, Wayne returned to music with his highly anticipated new album “Tha Carter VI”. It is his first full-length album in five years, a follow-up to 2020’s “Funeral”, and a sequel to 2018’s “Tha Carter V”. The project featured guest appearances from Jelly Roll, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Wyclef Jean, Mannie Fresh, MGK, Kodak Black and more.
