Rowdy Rebel freestyles on Power 99 Philadelphia.
After giving us a lot of new music recently, including ‘Jesse Owens‘ with Toronto’s NAV last month, Rowdy Rebel made a visit to The Come Up Show on Power 99 Philadephia with the host DJ Cosmic Kev. On the show, the Brooklyn rapper performs an off the top Freestyle.
The video, which was posted to Power 99 Philadelphia’s YouTube website, begins where Kev and Rowdy’s interview ends. For over four minutes, the Brooklyn native sang a cappella about his grind, prison time, Bobby Shmurda, new objectives, and even shoots his shot with Tinashe. Rowdy notices that Kev needs “some bars” and immediately obliges, skipping the formality of a beat or any other preparation. He sounded as if he couldn’t wait to show off his heightened aptitude at wordplay and rhyme schemes, which he’d honed throughout his time away. As he gains traction, he rises from his seat on the couch with Kev and becomes active, acting out some of his most graphic punchlines.
Rebel was arrested by the NYPD on December 17, 2014, for conspiracy, attempted murder, attempted assault, reckless endangerment, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Bobby Shmurda and 13 others affiliated with GS9 were also detained on drug-related offenses. Marshall pleaded not guilty to all charges
