On Hot 97’s Funk Flex, Jack Harlow freestyle over a classic Pharrell hit.
The “First Class” rapper came to Funkmaster Flex two years since his last visit, dropping another freestyle. Jack Harlow returns to Hot 97 to unleash a three-minute freestyle for Funkmaster Flex over Pharrell’s Gwen Stefani-featuring 2015 hit “Can I Have It Like That,” fresh off the release of his sophomore album “Come Home the Kids Miss You.”
Harlow spoke on his future role in the White Men Can’t Jump revival and promised that if he gets a Grammy, he won’t write Kendrick Lamar an apology text, a reference to Macklemore’s text to Kendrick Lamar after winning Best Rap Album for The Heist in 2014.
“I’m the brand that the world wanna get involved with / When I get that Grammy I ain’t sending no apology text / I ain’t come here to be humble, Flex called me to flex / The time is now, you can finally stop calling me next / And I’m about to shoot a movie so I guess that I oughta be stressed, but I’m just too blessed,” Harlow rapped.
Jack has plenty of grounds to be grateful. “Come Home the Kids Miss You” is a strong candidate for the Billboard 200’s top slot, with 110,000 to 135,000 album-equivalent units projected. The Louisville rapper also revealed that his “Come Home the Kids Miss You” Tour will go up in September with City Girls.
On Monday night, the rapper performed his viral hit “First Class,” played “Virtual Reality Pictionary” with Rachel Brosnahan, and sat down for an interview with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. Harlow informed the presenter that his current achievement had “validated” him. “I appreciate it, you know, it’s fragile to me and I know I worked for it,” the 24-year-old said. “I think don’t take it for granted at all because of that because I did everything bro.”
