2 Chain rose to popularity with his close buddy and fellow mc Earl “Dolla Boy” Conyers as one part of the Southern hip hop trio Playaz Circle. The duo is most known for their first single “Duffle Bag Boy,” which was launched on fellow Georgia-based rapper Ludacris’ Disturbing the Peace label and featured Lil Wayne.
The mixtape T.R.U. REALigion, which was published by 2 Chainz, was his first to chart on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list. It peaked at number 58.
On August 14, 2012, 2 Chainz confirmed the release date for his debut studio album, which he had renamed Based on a T.R.U. Story from T.R.U. to My REALigion. Drake appeared on the album’s lead single, “No Lie.”
2 Chainz confirmed in 2015, that he was launching an independent music label called “The Real University” (also known as “T.R.U.”; or “The Real U”). T.R.U. struck a partnership agreement with Atlantic Records, as reported by 2 Chainz.
His latest album Dope Don’t Sell Itself, the seventh and last trap album by 2 Chainz, was released on February 4, 2022, Def Jam Recordings released the album.
