Young Thug reveals his Top 5 rappers.
Young Thug recently sat down with Gille Da Kid and Wallo for an interview on their “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, along with his YSL crew. On the show at around the 16:30 minute mark, he was asked about his top 5 rappers, to Young Thug he says, “I don’t use us as a group [YSL]. We really one. So I gotta say YSL One“.
Thugger makes jokes about not wanting to offend Kanye and how Yeezy would be spiteful if they left him off their list for his next album. “You don’t want to get the call from him,” Young Thug quipped. “He’ll drop an album just from being mad at one ni**a who he’d normally have on the album. He’ll drop an album on a ni**a a**, just so you won’t be on it.”
Young Thug honored Kanye West by dedicating a song from his JEFFERY album to him. Thug contributes vocals to a leaked version of The Life of Pablo’s “Famous” from 2016, but he didn’t make the final cut. “Basically that’s all I was saying,” he said. “I just used his name because he the biggest ni**a in the world to me. I just used his name, to let the world know, like, ‘Yo, I got just as many hits as the biggest ni**a in the world.’ I’m doing two hours on stage, for real. I don’t remember my last hour show and I don’t do too much talking.”
Then Young Thug named Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, and Drake on number 2, 3, 4 respectively. On the 5th spot, he chooses Future and 21 Savage, before changing it to Kanye West. “Kanye. The fifth one gotta be Kanye.”
After that Thugger said that if it was only about lyrics, then he would’ve named the likes of Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole. “If we gon’ say lyrics, we gon’ say fu**in’ Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Bas… It’s about everything.”
Young Thug also clarified his remarks regarding JAY-Z in his 2020 interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game, in which he stated that Hov doesn’t have “30 songs” that a stadium can sing along to. Gillie Da King, the host, stated, “You were basically saying you got a lot of f**king records,” host Gillie Da King said. “Basically that’s all I was saying,” Thugger agreed, “I just used his name because he the biggest ni**a in the world to me.”
With 113,000 album-equivalent units, counting 6,000 pure record sales in its first week, Slime Language 2 opened at the top of the US Billboard 200 list. This is YSL Records’ third number-one album, following Young Thug’s So Much Fun in 2019 and Gunna’s Wunna in 2020.
