Young Dolph partner Mia Jaye breaks silence on rapper’s death.
Earlier this week, Hip-Hop lost one more soul as the rapper Young Dolph was shot and killed in his hometown Memphis, Tennessee. He was ambushed outside Makeda’s Butter Cookie store. Maurice Hill, the owner of the shop where the shooting happened revealed that his employees said Young Dolph, 36, walked into the store to buy cookies.
The tributes are pouring in from the Hip-Hop Fraternity for the past couple of days, with artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross, LL Cool J, Lil Yachty, Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, Russ and more paid their respects for the rapper.
Dolph was one of Memphis’ most regarded performers, known for his charm and lyrics that could alternate between being dramatic, hilarious, and extremely personal. Rich Slave, his eighth solo studio album, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in 2020, selling 65,000 equivalent album units in its first week, a noteworthy achievement for an artist not affiliated to a big label.
Now Young Dolph’s partner, Mia Jaye, the mother of his two children, speaks on the tragedy through her Instagram stories. “Thank you to everyone for all of your prayers, love, support, calls, messages,” she wrote. “I may not see them all but when my eyes are not full of tears, I catch a few. Nonetheless, all the genuine positive vibes, energy and prayers are welcome… because Lord knows I need them…[praying hands emoji]” “God give me strength… Adolph I love you with all my heart and soul [fingers crossed emoji][red heart emoji].”
She also shared a video of her kids doing situps, and wrote on the caption. “Question is… How am I going to tell my babies that daddy is never coming home? #prayforme.”
