Young Dolph crowns Lil Wayne “Best Rapper Alive”.
Lil Wayne recently did a new interview with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on their ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, where he names Young Dolph as one of his favorite current rappers. “All the homies, they just been super shocked.” says a stoned Lil Wayne. “They love the way I love [Young] Dolph.” The words got caught in Tunechi’s mouth for a minute as he was clearly stoned, but he eventually finished the statement, complimenting one of Memphis’ greatest. Now the leader of the Paper Route Empire, Young Dolph returns the favor and called Lil Wayne the greatest rapper alive through his Instagram.
“1 time for the Best Rapper Alive aka The Rap God @liltunechi.” wrote Young Dolph on his Social Media. Lil Wayne might be one of the greats, but most people won’t say that he’s the best rapper currently, or The Rap God, a tagline that is famous because of Eminem’s MMLP2 Hit.
He ends the letter by announcing that the new album he revealed a few weeks ago will be released soon.
“New project otw really really soon,” Dolph added.
Young Dolph previously stated that the project had been delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak, but now that he’s had a few weeks to get things in order in his home studio, it appears to be ready to go.
Recently Young Dolph and Key Glock, the star duo behind the successful 2019 album Dum & Dummer, have announced the release of the second instalment on March 26. The two rappers and blood cousins are sometimes referred to as “two parts of the same brain,” and Dum and Dummer 2 sees Dolph & Glock operating at an even greater level of craftsmanship than Dum and Dummer, which peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 in 2019.
Young Dolph and Key Glock released the song “Aspen” on March 5, 2021, followed by their second joint album, Dum & Dummer 2, on March 26, 2021. It’s the follow-up to 2019’s Dum and Dummer, and it combines solo songs with collaborations between the two singers. Dolph was tragically murdered in Memphis on November 17, 2021, at 12:22 p.m., while picking up cookies for his mother at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies, a bakery he visited anytime he travelled back home.
