XXL Mag Lists 20 of the Best Eminem songs.
You are either too naive or not from this world if you don’t recognize who the great Marshal Mathers is and what he did to hip-hop. Among the most successful careers in hip-hop history belongs to Eminem, who has angered the public while selling millions of CDs and garnering several awards.
We made the decision to revisit the Detroit rapper’s outstanding body of work in the wake of his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
One of the greatest Hip-Hop artists, Eminem has been in the Rap game for the last 20 years and gave us so many greatest hits & freestyles over the years. Eminem’s celebrity has grown into a sun orbited by his own label (Shady Records), his rhyme partners D12, a planet of fans, a nascent movie career (with the release of 8 Mile this fall) and an asteroid field of cops, lawyers, and judges since the release of his second album, The Marshall Mathers LP, in May 2000. He also dissed so many celebs/artists in his music, just like he did in his recent collaboration with fellow Detroit MC, Big Sean on the track titled ‘No Favors‘. But what are his best tracks? XXL Magazine lists the 20 best songs by Eminem throughout his Rap Career.

Surviving 20 years in the rap game while maintaining the same level of skill you had at the start of your career is a tough order and a sign of a serious artist, and Eminem belongs to that unique breed of MC.
Apart from the infamous actions and sometimes questionable lyrics, Em is extremely passionate about hip-hop and culture. Em has contributed to that legacy, advanced artistic expression, and given us some of the finest musical performances of the last 20 years with his own outstanding poetry and technical prowess. He delivered us the platinum-certified Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show albums.
When he made his debut in 1996 with Infinite, his first studio album, he was met with skepticism, but an impressive performance at the Rap Olympics a year later and a record deal with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records would turn him into one of rap’s hottest commodities, as well as one of its highest earners. When placed against some of the greatest MCs of all time, Em defied stereotypes as a Caucasian MC with amazing rhyme abilities cranking out superb stuff and besting them. As a result, he’s established a reputation as one of hip-hop’s most fearsome wordsmiths.
Eminem was a cartoon character with a mallet by the time 8 Mile came out, striking his own skull with his tongue dragging on the floor. Rabbit, his on-screen identity in the film, was, in a bizarre twist, what gave him authenticity and allowed us to connect with him.
Marshall Mathers has produced an inexhaustible number of songs over the course of his career, many of which have served as the soundtrack to rap fans’ life for the better part of two decades. Though his collaborations garner the most attention, such as his recent collaboration with Big Sean on “No Favors,” it’s his solo work that has kept him at the top of the game for so long.
Relistening to Eminem’s 20-plus years of album cuts, hit singles, and loosies remind us of his versatility and volatility, as well as his ingenuity and danger. Of course, the chilly spray of the flops and misses greeted us as well. However, not all of the spaghetti will stay to your sweater when you hurl it at it.
