Kendrick Lamar dominates BET Hip Hop Awards 2023.
The 17th annual BET Hip Hop Awards 2023, which took place earlier this month, finally aired earlier tonight. The ceremony was held at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, and was hosted by rapper, actor, and executive producer Fat Joe.
This year, Cardi B and 21 Savage lead the race with the most nominations, 12 each, followed by Drake with nine. Kendrick Lamar dominated the night by bagging awards in four categories, including Hip Hop Artist of the year. The rapper also won the awards for “Lyricist of the Year,” “Best Live Performer,” and “Video Director of the Year” alongside Dave Free.
Drake and 21 Savage won the Hip-Hop Album of the year awards for their last year’s joint effort “Her Loss”. They beat the likes of GloRilla, DJ Khaled, Metro Boomin, Jack Harlow, Lil Uzi Vert and more for the honor. They were also awarded in the category of Best Duo/Group.
The other winners include Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” for Best Hip Hop Video & Song of the Year, Lil Durk and J. Cole’s “All My Life” for Best Collaboration and Impact Track, DJ and Producer of the year Metro Boomin, Ice Spice for Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist, 50 Cent for Hustler of the year, Jay-Z for Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse.
Legendary Marley Mark was honoured with the I Am Hip-Hop Award, while Swizz Beatz and Timbaland were given the Cultural Influence Award.
