Wifisfuneral Talks About Eminem Relapse Impact & Relating to his Drug Addiction

Wifisfuneral talks about Eminem’s influence.

Everyone has a favorite work of art that inspired them to create their own. That record for Florida’s Wifisfuneral is Eminem’s Relapse, which may surprise fans given that the album is often regarded as one of Em’s worst. So there you have it. Wifisfuneral released “When Hell Falls” in late January 2017 after his meteoric rise to popularity. This album has 12 tracks and gives a highly candid account of his life and current challenges. While he was previously affiliated with rapper Earl Sweatshirt, there is undoubtedly a link between their music’s lyrical substance. Rapper Wifisfuneral who recently released his new single ‘Ocean‘, did a new interview with HipHopDx where talks about Insomnia, rapping over Nas instrumentals, how Biggie, Diddy, and Mase inspired him to rap, favorite Lil Wayne song, why he got an MF Doom tattoo and much more.

At around the 13:00 minute mark, He also talks about relating to Eminem‘s album ‘Relapse‘ because of his Drug struggle at a Young Age. HopHopDx asks, “Another guy you were talking about just bars and bending words and stuff and I know you talking about this album (Relapse), even listening to some of your stuff when you are rhyming, you can tell that Em has an influence.

It was just really so relatable,” says Wifisfuneral. “As far as not just the lyrics, not the factor him being a rapper, but also from as a drug aspect because at a young age I was really f**kin with Drugs. So I was listening to it and I was like oh sh*t I am finally listening to somebody that I can relate to.

Do you have a favorite Em song?” asks HipHopDx.

Wifisfuneral replies, “Drug Balled.

Clearly, the album resonated with Wifisfuneral, who related to the themes of withdrawal and the feeling that he needed to be “f**ked up” on pills to truly rap. The fact that Wifisfuneral likes the CD shows how subjective art can be. Relapse has encouraged a young artist to build his own way and find himself through music, even though the creator cannot stand his own creation—and neither can most critics.

Wifisfuneral released his debut studio album, Pain?, on August 28, 2020, after earlier expressing his decision to leave music. He explained the album’s premise, which chronicles his experiences and tribulations: “I’ve been working on the album for a couple of years now. It’s been a really big process going from the underground circuit to making records. I didn’t want to make it a regular rap album, I wanted every song to capture the emotion for anyone who’s listening.
