Watch the replay of Fat Joe vs Ja Rule VERZUZ Battle.
After an incredible battle between The LOX and Dipset last month, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland continue their VERZUZ event with a showdown between Fat Joe and Ja Rule. The battle between the two rappers took place at the Hulu Theater at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
They both indicated their desire to battle 50 Cent earlier this year, so the fight has been a long time coming. In a February interview with The Morning Hustle, Fat Joe suggested it, while Ja Rule stated that he and 50 “would make the most sense.” While it’s only speculated that 50 will turn up for Joe’s approval, Ja revealed he isn’t afraid to put the pressure on both of them.
During the show, Fat Joe played his songs like “Flow Joe”, My Lifestyle”, “I Shot Ya (Remix)” (LL Cool J), “The Enemy” (Big L), “Slow Down”, “Don Cartagena” (Diddy), “Sunshine” (DJ Khaled), “So Excited”, “Make It Rain” (Lil Wayne), and more. Remy Ma also joined Fat Joe to perform “All The Way Up” and Big Pun’s verse on “Twinz (Deep Cover 98).”
Ja Rule responded with his songs like “It’s Murda” (DMX, Jay-Z), “Can I Get A…” (Jay-Z, Amil), “Holla Holla”, “Between Me & You”, “Livin’ It Up”, “Put It On Me”, “So Much Pain” (2Pac), “Rainy Dayz” (Mary J. Blige), “Mesmerize” (Ashanti) and more.

Even though they were in a battle, Ja Rule praised Fat Joe’s several songs. “That’s one of my favorite records,” said Ja multiple times. “I want my brother to get the props he deserves,” said Fat Joe. “I f**kin love Ja Rule, with all my heart.” The duo concludes things with their 2000s collaboration “New York” for which they brought out Jadakiss.
Ja Rule has eight No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, including Ashanti’s “Always on Time,” which peaked in February 2002 and spent 27 weeks at the top of the charts. He has 17 songs on the Hot 100 altogether. Venni Vetti Vecci, his first studio album, spent 31 weeks at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 list before reaching its peak. After joining the hip-hop group Diggin’ in the Crates Crew (D.I.T.C.) in the beginning of his career, Fat Joe released his debut solo album Represent in 1993. The album’s breakthrough track “Flow Joe” peaked at No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
