Watch The Legendary Rakim Names Eminem in the List of His Favorite Rappers

Rakim lists favorite rappers on KXNG Crooked show, names Eminem.

Not only is KXNG Crooked still killing it on the mic, but he’s also making waves in the media with the rise of his Crook’s Corner series. Following his interview with Eminem last month, the West Coast icon is back with another legend–the one and only Rakim.

The legendary rapper Rakim sat down with KXNG Crooked for a new interview on Crook’s Corner to talk about Hip-Hop and other things. At around 44:10, Crooked asked Rakim about the rappers he considers the greatest of all time.

There are couple people,” said Rakim. “I gotta start the beginning because without them I would not be who I am. That’s Melle-Mel, Kool Moe Dee, and Grandmaster Caz. That’s Old School, but then you got one of my favorite MCs Eminem, Jay-Z another one of my favorite MCs, and a few more cats that I think cut off. Another brother that I love, man I think one is one of the most underrated MCs Black thought.

Rakim and Eminem appreciate each other, as seen by the latter’s recent admission that he doesn’t consider himself to be as much of a genre pioneer as Rakim. “Rap has gone through transitions, it’s evolved, now people are doing things with flows that I never could have seen happening,” Slim explained. “But rappers from [Rakim’s] era meant so much to that era, just because there were so many innovators.”

Are Eminem & Rakin working together?
After DJ Premier shared a selfie of Eminem and Rakim, many are speculating that the two are working together. Despite both musicians’ decades-long careers in hip-hop and several instances of appreciating each other, the two have never collaborated together. On his Instagram Story, the producer and DJ suddenly released an old shot of the two rappers. He provided no context for the shot, instead merely identifying both artists in the post.
