The video of Eminem being booed off in 1992 has surfaced on the internet.
In a 2012 interview with The List Magazine, Eminem said that the first time he rapped in front of an actual audience, he was booed off the stage. “The first time I rapped in front of actual people that mattered, in a club, I got booed,” said Eminem. “And it was very traumatic for me. I just remember it being so f**king traumatic, and I think I went home and I was like, man, I quit.”
“And you know a week later, a day later, an hour later I got the urge, and I was like, I gotta get up, I gotta do it again.”
He continued, “I certainly feel like if it wasn’t for rap, obviously, I wouldn’t be here, but it gave me my voice, it gave me my outlook, it gave me strength, you know what I came back from, overdose and a whole load of sh*t, without rap I wouldn’t be able to do a f**king thing.”
At what seems to be an open-mic event, Eminem gets booed off the stage by a tough crowd at The Rhythm Kitchen in downtown Detroit. Eminem was spitting a verse from the Soul Intent song, ‘What Color is Soul?’ Pay attention to the guy in the white hoodie on the right. Twice in this clip, he makes shooting gestures towards Eminem. This should give you a good idea of what Detroit was like back then and the lack of respect any white MC would get.
Now, a never-before-seen video of Eminem being booed off stage in 1992 at The Rhythm Kitchen in downtown Detroit has surfaced online.
