Tyler, The Creator lists his favourite Jay-Z tracks.
Over the weekend, the legendary Jay-Z celebrated his 52nd (Dec 4) Birthday and he received greetings from several fellow artists, as well as fans on Social Media. Carl Chery, the Spotify Urban Music Head shared his favourite songs by Shawn Carter, and he also connected with Tyler, the Creator to ask his top records from “The Blueprint” rapper.
“Off the top, my top five Jay-Z songs, ‘F**k All Nite,’ ‘Excuse Me Miss,’” he said. “His Funk Flex ‘Grammy Family Freestyle’ if that counts, ‘Allure,’ oh his verse on ‘You gotta lot of sh*t that’s cool to me… ‘‘Do It Again’‘ off Vol. 3. That verse crazy, insane. Oh and ‘Show You How,’ that last verse showed a lot of perspective to me as a kid, so that’s six so I’m done.”
The Creator was then asked to remove the “Grammy Family” freestyle, to which he responds, ““No No! C’mon no, that sh*t has… no, that sh*t is crazy.”
“D’Evils” from Reasonable Doubt is Chery’s favourite Jay-Z song, followed by “Dead Presidents,” “Where I’m From,” “A Million and One Questions (Premiere Remix),” and “U Don’t Know.”
Chery’s tweet received over 150 replies and 600 quote tweets, many of which included classic Hov songs chosen by some of his biggest admirers. Hov’s birthday celebrations included the re-release of some of his most popular music videos on Vevo. The network announced a 24-hour takeover on their Hip Hop channel on Saturday (December 4), as well as 1-hour programming blocks on their 90’s and 2000’s channels today.
