The Weeknd shares the new trailer for “The Idol”.
Last week, The Weeknd announced that he will be dropping a soundtrack album for his forthcoming HBO show “The IDOL”, and today he has officially announced the date for the highly anticipated release.
The Canadian star unveiled a new trailer for the Drama series and revealed that it will release on HBO on June 4th. The Show is previously called “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood.” The show is created by The Weeknd, Euphoria director Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim. The series stars The Weeknd himself in the lead role along with Lily Rose Depp. The other cast includes Troye Sivan, Debby Ryan, Rachel Sennott, Steve Zissis and more.
Lily-Rose Depp portrays a pop starlet in the drama that depicts her journey through the music industry. However, her path takes a twisted turn when she succumbs to the manipulation of a nightclub owner-turned-cult leader played by The Weeknd, as the story unfolds.
“When was the last truly-f***ing-nasty, nasty, bad pop-girl?” asks Troye Sivan in the clip, which starts with Jocelyn taking part in a photoshoot.
“After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America,” the official description reads. “Her passions are reignited by Tedros (The Weeknd), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?”
