The Weeknd is contributing to “Avatar: The Way Of Water”.
Following his assistance on Metro Boomin’s new album “Heroes & Villains“, The Weeknd is possibly dropping more new music later this month. The XO mogul has teased his involvement in the upcoming science fiction film “Avatar: The Way Of Water”, a sequel to the blockbuster 2009 movie.
“12.16.22,” he wrote with a clip of new music and the Avatar logo. The James Cameron-directed film will officially hit the theatres on December 16.
“As the Na’vi say, ‘Zola’u nìprrte’ soaiane Avatar’… Welcome to the Avatar family,” wrote film producer Jon Landau with a picture of The Weeknd.
The Avatar Cast Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald to reprise their roles from the original film. The new members include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, and Brendan Cowell.
The artist has previously contributed to a number of soundtracks, among them those for the animated Sing series, Black Panther, Empire, and other films. Although it is unclear how much he was involved in Avatar, according to the social media post, it appears that he was crucial.
