The Weeknd’s critically acclaimed album “Starboy” turns 5, and the Canadian artist celebrates the anniversary with a new music video. The Weeknd drops the video for his song called “Die For You“, in which he pays homage to the 1982 sci-fi film “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” and Netflix show “Stranger Things”.
Along with the video, the “After Hours” artist also announced a limited-edition collection of clothing merchandise with LA Brand Seventh Heaven.
The Weeknd’s “Starboy” album debuted at #1 on Billboard 200 and featured guest appearances from Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Rey and Future.
Recently, The Weeknd’s hit “Blinding Lights” became the new number 1 song on Billboard’s Greatest Songs of All Time on Hot 100 Charts.
His most recent body of work is After Hours debuted in the first quarter of last year, with 14 tracks and a flurry of accompanying visuals depicting The Weeknd as a figure influenced by films like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Joker, and Casino. The project also included remixes and collaborations with Lil Uzi Vert, Doja Cat, Chromatics, and Oneohtrix Point Never on a few special editions. After Hours was one of the most commercially successful albums of 2020, with The Weeknd topping the Billboard 200, the UK’s Official Albums, and a slew of other charts across the world – the album is certified double platinum in the United States alone.
