Swizz Beatz & Timbaland claims that Triller hasn’t paid them 2022 payments.
Swizz Beatz and Timbaland founded the popular Verzuz battle series and sold it to Triller in 2021. The two producers now taking video-sharing social networking service to court over the defaulted payments of 2022 so far.
According to TMZ, the two filed a lawsuit against the company for a reported unpaid payment of around $28 million. The lawsuit states that Swizz Beatz and Timbaland received cash payments from Twiller in January and April 2021, but their next payment which was supposed to come in January 2022, never arrived.
Verzuz was introduced in 2020 when the pandemic hit and had the first show through IG live, which was a virtual DJ Battle. Over the past two years, the show saw battles between Boi-1da vs Hit-Boy, T-Pain vs Lil Jon, Erykah Badu vs Jill Scott, Nelly vs Ludacris, Alicia Keys vs John Legend, DMX vs Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross vs 2 Chainz, Ashanti vs Keyshia Cole, Redman vs Method Man, Fat Joe vs Ja Rule, and many more, including the most popular The LOX vs Dipset.
Triller made news in 2021 when Universal Music Group stated that their library will be removed from the short form video app owing to a royalties disagreement. Within months, the music had been restored. The business has sparked criticism due to suspected late payments to combatants. Triller has rejected charges of irregular payouts to Black influencers in a new Washington Post report.
