Styles P gives his opinion on Kanye West & Drake beef.
Styles P recently sat down with Brandon Marshall, Chad Ochocinco Johnson, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder for a session of their podcast “I AM Athlete.” On the show, the LOX’s member was asked about his opinion on the ongoing beef between Kanye West and Drake, to which Styles P gave his hilarious honest take.
“It’s a worthless battle,” says Styles. “It’s really an egotistical and prideful battle. Think about what we’re doing right now. One guy saying he’s a Certified Lover Boy. One guy titled the album after his dead mom, God rest the dead, much condolences. Why are we comparing them?”
Styles continues to praise both Certified Lover Boy and Donda’s work. According to the Ghost, Drake’s record has a superior sound, but Kanye’s project has better content. He also doesn’t see the need in comparing the two because they’re two completely separate products that people can enjoy. “Sonically, I like Drake’s album better. Content-wise, I like Kanye’s album better. I don’t have to put myself in a box and say which one is better.”
He continues, “I have two f**kin’ individuals in myself that say ‘content-wise, this guy’s relating to his mom, talking about Christ and all kind of other sh*t. This guy [Drake] is talking about rich sh*t, money, chicks he forgot, people mad at him, how much money he got, chicks he loved who left him, [Drake’s] singing. He’s singing about girls, [Kanye’s] singing about Christ. I want to hear Nas, Westside, and myself.”
“I love them both. We can’t let them give us the narrative and keep programming us for the crab in a barrel narrative. They ain’t gon’ fight. They ain’t saying no crazy sh*t. They gon’ try to dress better than each other, buy better watches. Date better models. Buy better cars. Mention paintings I definitely don’t know about and I’m tired of it. You should get Nas album. J. Cole’s album. Westside Gunn’s album. My f**kin album. Everybody else album, they ain’t even fighting or arguing, Go the f**k around the corner and sqaure up or f**kin’ hug. I’m tired of that sh*t. You want me to be honest? They should both shut the f**k up.”
It’s evident that Drake and Kanye West will not be facing off on the Verzuz stage, despite the fact that it almost happened. Swizz Beatz said to veteran radio host Angie Martinez on The Angie Martinez Show that Kanye West intended to fight Drake, but it didn’t work out.
Drake’s new album “Certified Lover Boy” earned the biggest debut of 2021, with his album topping Billboard 200 with 604k sales in the first week. He surpassed Kanye West’s latest album “DONDA” which also debuted at #1 on the US Charts with 309k.
