To Pimp a Butterfly sold 324,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and became Lamar’s first number-one album in the United Kingdom. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) eventually certified it platinum, and it sold one million copies in the United States by 2017.
