Lil Wayne drops new album ‘Tha Carter V’ feat Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj & others.
After a lot of rumors in the past few weeks about releasing of the new Lil Wayne album ‘Tha Carter V‘, the rapper himself announced that he will drop the project on his birthday. The long-delayed highly anticipated ‘Tha Carter V‘ is finally here. It’s the first Lil Wayne’s studio album since 2013’s ‘I Am Not A Human Being II‘.
The project contains 23 songs with guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, XXXtentacion, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Ashanti, and more.
Post Malone (“What About Me”), Gucci Mane (“In This House”), 2 Chainz (“Siri”), and Raekwon (“More To The Story”) are among the other tunes on The Carter V. Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, and Wayne’s daughter Reginae Carter all had cameos on the entire album, which included Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, and Wayne’s daughter Reginae Carter.
Tha Carter V was released in 2018 following a years-long legal battle between Wayne and Birdman. Weezy has already moved on, releasing Funeral and teasing Tha Carter VI, but many of the album’s original tunes have been forgotten. A handful of those songs have lately been posted to the Shazam database, according to eagle-eyed megafans, sparking anticipation that they’re going to be released. Wayne’s team has been contacted for more comment by The FADER.
A few tracks from the initial version of the project, including Justin Bieber’s “Just Chill” and Big Sean’s “Mute,” were later leaked online. It’s unclear which tracks will appear on the upcoming version, whether they’ve been leaked or are brand new.
When a widely publicized release date of Sept. 21 proved to be erroneous, the rapper released another public service statement, identical to the one in 2014, stating that C5 will be released on his 36th birthday.
Throughout his legal battle with Cash Money, Wayne continued to give his fans new music, releasing some Dedication mixtapes (including one Reloaded), another Sorry 4 the Wait, Free Weezy Album, Collegrove with 2 Chainz, and the In Tune We Trust EP. Not to add, he maintained a good feature streak on tracks with Chance the Rapper, Solange, and others. Swizz Beatz and Wayne just released the song “Pistol on My Side.”
With 480,000 album-equivalent units and 140,000 pure album sales, Tha Carter V debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. With 433 million streams, it was the second-largest streaming week for an album. Lil Wayne became the first artist to launch two tracks in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 after the album’s release. Lil Wayne’s fourth number-one album in the United States. It is his third album to debut at number one on the Canadian Albums Chart, with 24,000 units sold. Tha Carter V has sold one million album-equivalent copies in the United States as of November 18, 2018.
