As per the criteria, a songwriter with a catalog of notable records qualifies for induction 20 years after their first significant commercial release of a song.
This year, Eminem, NWA, Janet Jackson, Bryan Adams and more are among the nominees. For all the artists, they have named five tracks from their catalogs. For Eminem, they named song like “Lose Yourself”, “Stan”, “Mockingbird”, “Houdini” and “Rap God”. For NWA, they named “Express Yourself”, “Dopeman”, “F–k Tha Police”, “Gangsta Gangsta” and “Straight Outta Compton.” NWA includes Dr. Dre, Easy E, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella.
In 2024, Eminem returned with his new album “The Death Of Slim Shady”, which earned him another number 1 on Billboard to add to his long career. Just recently, he was nominated in categories like Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Video and Best Rap Album for next year’s Grammy Awards.
