Scott Storch shares about Dr. Dre and Eminem doing everything for Ad-Libs.
Scott Storch recently spoke with HipHopDX about how Dr. Dre and Eminem went above and beyond to create memorable interludes, Ad-Libs, and skits for their projects. He also revealed that Dr. Dre even had to tell Eminem to stop worrying about the ad-libs and turn in his album.
Scott Storch discusses how Dr. Dre and Eminem went to great lengths to produce memorable interludes and skits for their albums. Dr. Dre was even forced to advise Eminem to quit worrying about the ad-libs and turn in his record, according to Scott. In the whole interview, which will be released this Saturday, he also covers Detox studio sessions, his new treatment clinic, his next film, and much more.
He talked about some crazy studio sessions Dr. Dre and the co. “It was all amazing, everybody participates, like a family,” says Storch. “Xzibit, me, Dre, Snoop, Eminem were all there. It was so much fun, we had so much fun. There’s a skit on there, on the album where we called all these p**nstars to come in and make these s*x noises, I’ve never seen something like this in my life.”
Scott Storch continues, “One time I came in the studio and Dre was doing some sh*t, I think the song was called ‘Buried Alive’ or something. And he had in the middle of the control room, bags and sand and rock, shovel, and some sh*t put down and was turn it all like digging, to make some ad-libs. Eminem was crazy with the sound effects.”
“I remember that day we were fixing up a record of his and we did that ‘Just The Two Of Us’ that day,” he said. “And I don’t know—I was blown away then. He was something completely different. He reminds me of—like his energy and just all his creativity—like the greatest. And I saw something the other night in this dude I’m working with, Chris Webby. And it kinda reminded me a little bit of that type of vibe. Really into the craft and excited about the records…I remember being in the studio at some point. I forget what album it was with Em. And Em was going so crazy. He was so passionate about just adding like all the little sound effects to the songs. Like a glass breaking or anything, a car screeching. The sounds. Like all that stuff and just being so meticulous with it and making it real.”
Storch allegedly collaborated with Dr. Dre on his somewhat delayed album, Detox, in addition to collaborating with Eminem. During an interview with DJ Skee nearly four years ago, the producer indicated that Dre’s album was only three tracks from from completion.
Scott Storch has collaborated with Fat Joe, Pusha T, DJ Khaled, and a few more musicians since his comeback to music last year.
