RZA reacts to Rihanna & ASAP Rocky’s name after him.
Back in May, it was revealed that Rihanna and ASAP Rocky named their one-year-old son RZA Athelston Mayers, which was inspired by the legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper. The baby’s middle name is taken from his rapper father, whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers.
Now the Wu-Tang Clan rapper made an appearance on CNN to reflect on his career, and also reacted to Riri and Rocky naming their son after him. “[It’s a] great honor to know that there’s another generation that’s not even of my own household that feels the strength and the inspiration of that name,” he said. “RZA is only a name, it’s a title. So it’s an honor and I salute her and A$AP and their family. All the blessings in the world from me.”
In May, it was also Rihanna and ASAP’s firstborn’s first birthday, who celebrated the occasion with a photo dump on Instagram. “WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN.” HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN. RZA,” wrote Rocky.

Meanwhile, Riri is pregnant with her second child with ASAP Rocky, which she revealed in February during his NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. “It’s so different from the first one,” Rihanna told ET. “No cravings. Tons of nausea. Everything’s different, but I’m enjoying it.”
Riri’s performance broke the record for the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime Show in history. Roc Nation announced that the 2023 Super Bowl performance was watched by a record-breaking 121.017 million viewers, as reported by the tracking service Neilsen.
