Royce da 5’9″ lashes out at Dave Mays for disrespecting Eminem.
Royce da 5’9″ recently took part in a conversation on ClubHouse with Page Kennedy, Just Blaze, King Los, Punch, Mouse, and Dave Mays, where he lost his patience with the founder of The Source Magazine (Dave) for disrespecting Eminem.
Despite the fact that others in the room sought to explain Eminem’s evident influence on Hip Hop culture, Mays sounded dismissive, adding, “he can say what he want to say.” That’s when Royce went in and fired back, “You can say what you want to say but that don’t mean it’s going to hold no merit. It don’t mean you dictate nothing.”
Mays continued, “I’m going to say my piece, and you can either f**k with me or not. Muthaf**kas been f**king with me for 30, 40 years because of the sh*t I’ve done and said, and how I am. After someone suggested Mays and Eminem are “the same muthaf**ka,” Mays replied, “We are not the same,” to which Royce said, “You got that right bro. You are not the same.”
For a long time, Royce Da 5’9 has had an on-again, off-again feud with Benzino. Their feud may have reached a new height this week when Benzino referred to Royce as a “slave” for protecting Eminem. Dave Mays, the founder of The Source Magazine, has now been embroiled in the feud as well. Tensions were high when the two found themselves in the same Clubhouse room with Van Lathan, Page Kennedy, Just Blaze, Punch, and King Los on Tuesday night (January 5).
In the show, Dave Mays tried to discredit Eminem’s place in hip-hop by mentioning that the Detroit Rapper’s tape “Foolish Pride” promotes latent racism.
King Los and Glasses Malone talked about Eminem’s impact on the hip-hop culture, which Mays dismissed by saying, “he can say what he want to say“.
Royce is known for standing up for his Bad Meets Evil co-star, which Benzino enjoys slamming in his face. Their online feud began on December 29 and ended with the former Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star threatening to physically hurt both Royce and Joyner Lucas, who had joined the conflict.
The debate took a turn in the last minutes as both sides’ passions grew, and Mays doubled down on his anti-Eminem vitriol. Mays stated that “he may say what he want to say” when King Los and Glasses Malone sought to delicately explain Eminem’s effect on hip-hop culture. The dismissive tone obviously irritated Royce, who had run out of patience with the inventor of The Source.
Royce da 5’9″: You can say what you want to say but that don’t mean it’s going to hold no merit, It don’t mean you dictate nothing.
Dave Mays: I’m going to say my piece, and you can either f**k with me or not. Muthaf**kas been f**king with me for thirty, forty years because of the sh*t I’ve done and said, and how I am.
Then some people in the conversation claimed that Dave Mays and Eminem are “the same muthaf**ka.”
Dave Mays: We are not the same.
Royce da 5’9″: You got that right bro, You are not the same (prompting laugh from the group).
Dave Mays: I don’t have none of that in my history. As far as f**king with the streets, f**king with authenticity in hip-hop, it’s documented.
This has Royce snaps at Benzino’s friend and kicks him from the conversation.
Royce da 5’9″: Man, you f**k with Benzino. You don’t f**k with authenticity. I’ma kick your a** to the crowd. You f**k with cornballs. Enough of Dave Mays. F**k out of here, muthaf**ker. F**k he talking to, I’ll put death on your doorstep. I’m not divided, I’m not one with Dave Mays. Let’s get this sh*t straight. Ya’ll n***as in here acting like this ni**a at the cookout.
